This book was written, designed, illustrated and crafted as part of a project in which students were given a random book and assigned the task of creating a unique book loosely based on the one they had received.
I received Commonsense Design, a book about interior design on a budget. At one point in the book the author mentions using a fish tank as a decorative piece in a room. I took that idea and turned it around so that in my book, one starts with a fish tank as the central piece of a room, and must take inspiration from the individual fish, pebbles and elements within the tank to decorate the rest of that room.

I had the pleasure of first meeting Zoe Dell Nutter a little over a year ago, and have become good friends with her since then. She is a truly remarkable yet humble person and I always enjoy any chance I get to sit down and talk with her. This graphite portrait was my birthday present to her this past June.
The image of her in the middle is based on a photograph taken in 1939, the year she was the most heavily photographed woman in the world and also the US representative at the world's fair. Other elements in the portrait represent: Her favorite pets, her multiple trips to Africa, her favorite car, and her involvement with aviation and the National Aviation Hall of Fame.
